Remove the cam sensor prior to pulling the cam? Helms says to!
Well, I just changed out the stock cam for a TR-220. I did this [without] removing the cam sensor (located behind the intake manifold).
Now, after reading the cam replacement procedure in my GM service manual CD, I see that it says to first remove the cam sensor prior to removing the camshaft.
Anyone have an input on this?
Thanks,
Ron

Your also supposed to pull the heads and lifters for a cam also! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

The sensor does not protrude very much, maybe less than an inch, and the cam is like 5-6 inches farther down... So I don't see why it would need to be pulled. You have to pull the intake to remove the cam position sensor because you can't get a wrench or socket back there otherwise Ron.
