Hi i have a 2000 camaro Z28 and i want to put a cam in it. Its an auto transmission and i have a new intake manifold and thorttle body. Can you please tell me whats a good cam for performance that isnt that rough at idle but still sounds sick and something with decent gasmileage. i would like to get about 50 h.p please let me know what you have,

hello, since your a newbee i'll cut you some slack. first its a GREAT idea to read the above cam sticky. in that sticky the board here likes the tr224 for an all around all purpose cam. i have an A4 and worried about drivability / good street mannors. i chose too small, the 2002 ls6 cam. 550 lift, 218/204 dur, 117 lsa. my car purrs like a kitten and idles 600 / 700 rpm with no lope so very stealth. bad is low dyno numbers from what i expected. always remember to install better springs!

You should definately read all the stickies and perhaps do a few searches as well. Before you even think about a cam you should be doing the bolt ons. Especially the ones that allow the cam to reach it's full potential which are a torque converter, lid and full exhaust.

I would start with a lid, then catback, then LT headers, then a 3500-4000 stall torque converter and then a cam with rods, lifters, springs and finally a dyno tune.
