Will "finish" hone require new pistons
How much is usually taken off with a "finish" hone to clean up the bores...should this be done with a torque plate?
Does this require new pistons and rings?

Re: Will
OK great.
Since our aluminum blocks have steal bore liners that are cast into the block, I thought .005 was the most you could finish hone these pups....
.003 is out of the question with a cast-in liner, right?
I have a person trying to sell me a block that purports to be "never used" ...I suppose if it were a used block, I could measure the bores to see if the block has been "finish honed" .005, right?

Re: Will
On a 99+ block, you should be able to bore it about .015 and still be safe. You should definitely be able to tell if the bore is .005 oversized w/ a bore gauge. You also need to make sure its crosshatched correctly so the rings will seat.
