you cam wont be very good with a 383 but other than that go with the 4.0 stroke because when you do buy a bigger block you can swap the rods and crank over to the new block which will save you money. then you will just have to buy a set of pistons.

well I was thinking of getting a fully assembled 402 from texas speed. But was wondering if a L92 or LS7 would take in my 5.3 heads... and even if it did, if they would be suitable for a bigger bore stroke such as 4.125" bore.. or L92 bore

Default 383 stroker

I just had a 383 stroker built for my sand rail. First day i take it out---oil leaks from the rear gasket.

Question: Are there some aftermarket valve covers that are made for the LS1 that can accomadate breather hoses to relive all the crankcase pressure ??? Ans are there some aftermarket gaskets that might hold up better to the additional crankcase pressures ???

Thx for your help in advance.

OKay, based on whats damaged. Im gonna decide if Iwanna do a 383 or 402. But am leaning towards 402 anyways....
So Im gonna tow the car to my friends shop and drop the K member, take the engine off and teardown the motor and see whats damaged. How can I tell if parts are damaged? Im not trying to sound dumb, but like to check if a crank is out of round, bearings are okay, etc... where will I get all these specs, I dont have all data or a Haynes or mitchell book. But I have a Mitchell book for a 4th gen, I hope it has everything in there...

and I guess Im gonna order a texas speed 402.. But am still unsure, because no one yet told me if a 418 will work with the heads I have on now..

Call up TSP and talk to the pro's man. I take everything that I get from people on here like a grain of salt.

I called TSP, they said itll work with a 418 L92, but isnt ideal. so Im gonna go with a 402...

with the 5.3 stage 2.5s, .040" gasket, -10cc pistons my C/r should be at about 11.2 : 1

and it should work with probably any cam..

whats a good performing medium cam for a 402... I want drivability...

Ok just to compare and show you what my meaning of drivable is, the Torquer v3 with heads, making 432rwhp with 3.73s through a M6 wasnt very driveable IMO.. So something better than that... below 1000-1500rpms the car felt like it wanted to stall. I dont want that...

and with a 402, with those heads and a medium cam, what M6, pulley, aluminum D/S moser 12 bolt, aluminum FW, what kind of power are people making? I am shooting for somewere in the 520s or so with my kind of CR.
