Default Eagle Crank?

I just built a 383 with a 4" Eagle crank and I have a problem with my clutch install. After the flywheel is on, the crank sticks out too far and wont let the clutch sit flat against the flywheel. Yes I have the clutch on the right way too. What to do?

Check the pilot bushing. Make sure the input shaft slides into it with the clutch off.

Here is where the clutch is hitting the crank. This part of the crank is alot longer then stock. Can I just grind it down so the clutch will fit? That sounds bad.

Give Eagle a call. I've never seen this before and don't feel comfortable giving you any advice. Call Eagle and tell em whats up.

Definatly. That would be a problem with how it was manufactured, Plus i dont think you would want to void your warrantee and kill any chance of being able to get an exchange from them if you cut that part of it off. Just my .02

Double check with a stock crank to see how much longer than stock it is. If it is indeed loo long, you probably won't hurt anything by grinding it.

If I had bought it new I would send it back, but if I were in your shoes with the engine already built I'd just mask off the area around it to contain the grinding dust, and machine it down a little.

On a stock crank the flywheel and crank end are about flush when bolted up. It sticks out about 1/2" with the eagle crank. I'm just going to grind it down.
