Default Cam choice...

I currently have a lunati cam. It's something like a 222/230 114LSA. The idle is "alright", but I really love a choppy sound. I have an M6, full exhaust, and Intake. I'd just like some advice on a complete choppy cam install..

1.) What cam will give me great sound. I'm not really worried too much about HP numbers. I never go to the track, just the local cruises.

2.) What springs for the ^^^ cam?

Thanks for the help!!

You'll want a little more overlap and a low idle speed to give you the chop you want. Your current cam has -3 degrees of overlap at .050". Around 6 degree of overlap coupled with the stock idle speed of 800 rpm will chop pretty hard while still giving you good street manners.

A 230/230 112LSA cam will give you 6 degrees of overlap.

A 226/226 110LSA cam will also give you 6 degrees of overlap.

The springs needed depends on the lobes you choose. Run XE high lift lobes (.570ish lift) and you can run affordable 918 beehive springs. Run XE-R or XFI lobes (.590ish or .610ish) and you will need to run dual valve springs.

Stock 98-02 F-bodies and Corvettes with 6 speeds idle at 800 rpm. A cam of the size I mentioned will chop pretty hard at 800 rpm.

There should be a little screw on the left side of your throttle body under the throttle cable. Back that down and then it will lower your idle.
