Default How much lifter preload comp rockers?

I have stock lifters with comp adjustable roller rockers, i have 3/4 of a turn of preload from zero lash, its really quiet when cold but when its hot i get a bit of sewing machine noise, if this is normal then ok, but can i pre load a bit more so it will be quieter? Thanks.

If the studs are 3/8-24 threads then that is only about 0.050" of preload, a little light for stock lifters. 1-1/4 turns will get you to 0.080" if the threads are in fact 3/8-24. I am assuming the adjustment is at the fulcrum, and not at the pushrod. If at the pushrod then my numbers are not correct.

You wouldn't mind posting up some pics of your TVR would you? Engine shots and the car. Looks sick in your avatar!

I would adjust for 0 lash then adjust the rockers (loosen) for about .017.

Roughly 1/4 to 1/3 of a turn if your getting .050" per turn.

I used a feeler guage.

I am using the Comp Cams #1500 in my LS6.

What I mean by 0 lash is that you tighten the adjustment till you feel the valve open (a marked increase in force to tighten any further).

The lifter is at a pumped down state.

Some adjust to .005 but usually with solid lifters.
