LS1 edit has NOTHING to do with an adjustable timing chain (the cam).....
What do you think this is....a VTEC engine (j/k)
LS1 Edit = program (computer)
Timing chain = mechanical (permanently connected to the crank)
You don't "need" an adjustable chain unless you want to advance or retard the cam for some reason. Most cams come from the grinder with 2 to 4 degrees of advance so there is really no reason to add more.
When I did my cam, I installed the double roller chain which has up to 4 degrees of either advance or retard but I set it straight up.
