Default ET heads

ik how you all get talking about heads and sorry to get you all fired up agian but i talked to the et performance guys and they told me that their best heads for what i got would probably be a set of 706 4.8/5.3 heads with a 64cc chamber and it would only be about $1400 since i already had springs. so what do you all think about this? ik nothing about heads but am learning but my other option is afr 205 heads but for the pair its $2400. so what would the hp diffrence actually be for $1000 extra

I'd go with the 5.3L ET's. I'd be surprised if there was more than 10 hp difference. FWIW I have a 5 year old set of Absolute Speed 5.3's and made 524 rwhp on my 408 with 1 3/4 headers and a 9".

PLEASE GUYS NEED MORE INPUT!!!!!!

ET guy Craig says:
I would say you would make a real world 430 - 440 rwhp with the parts that you listed below and exhaust. We have had people make 460 rwhp but those have large camshafts and over 11:1 compression.

The AFR's, or any other aftermarket head, are only worth it if you want every last bit out of your combo and nothing less. The ET ported 5.3's will make great power. If an aftermarket head was absolutely necessary, don't ya think ET woulda been trying to sell ya a set of 215's? It says alot for them that they didnt. That or they have a dusty pair of 5.3's sitting on the shelf they've been trying to get rid of

I'd listen to him. Most shops/salesmen (the successful ones at least) won't try to sell you the most expensive product with all the bells and whistles. The want to spec you out a part that they think would go well with your combination, so that you're happy and will come back or even recommend them to friends.

I have TSP 5.3 heads. I had Pat G spec me a cam that would work great with 5.3 heads and he specced me a 230/236 grind. When I got the cam it was slightly bigger(I dont mind). The point is I think ETP is giving you HONEST advice of what would work for you. They did not just try and sell you The most expensive heads they had. That in it self says alot about a company.
