compblower cam and pushrod length
I put in ported 243 heads and a comp cams blower cam. The valves were oversized, so they are not the LS6 hollow/sodium filled valves. When measuring with a comp cams pushrod length checker, 6.800" - 7.800" I turned it 9.5 turns to where the rocker was not tickig on the valve stem, but no pressure on the lifter. That gave me a length of 7.275. I then added .100 for lifter preload for a total of 7.375".
My question is why do I calculate a shorter than stock pushrod? it is my understanding that the base circle for comp cams is smaller than my 97 LS1 stock cam.
Any thoughts?
What are the cam specs (lobes)
22lbs/ft is your trq on rockers, that has to be done on base of cam lobe. 2 turns sounds like your p-rods are too short.
