6.0L upgrade help...
I have an lq4/4l80e combo to go into my 71 chevelle and have been reading post after post about these ls1 type motors. Can someone tell me how this lq4 motor will respond too cams/intakes? What will these heads handle? Intake handle? What kind of HP/torq #'s should I expect? What's needed to get it up to 450HP range?
Thanks for the input!

the heads flow just as good as the ls6 heads. the comp ratio is 9.4 to 1. not sure which year 6.0 you have. i have the 01. it has the aluminum heads. are you wanting rwhp? the truck intake is hangs right in there some of the other intakes. but starts to drop at 5800 rpms if i remember right.

LS6 intake for sure. Do you want a lopey cam? I have a 71 chevelle myself, but im going with a 502, but anyway. You night wanna try to make a little more power since you are going to be using that 4L80, bc they eat more power than a 4L60.

of course it has to have a lopey cam, afterall it's a chevelle. It has to sound the part... I was thinking something like .224/.230 duration, w/ .550/.560 lift on 112 sep.

If you wanna stay in that duration, look at the GMPP "ASA" cam it is a nice lopey, under the curve, and good torque off the line!

here is a lil info I saw on the November issue of HOTROD magazine, they used a hotcam and as you can see it hangs right in there with the best of them and are easy on the springs!!!...
hope it helps alil bit, goodluck

Thanks litl88, interesting read.
The ASA cam is on a 110 lsa, is that going to work with the computer, etc.? This ls1 stuff is kinda confusing compared to BB stuff...
As many have said it's in the combination of components you have. Just want to make sure to get the best combo...

Im sorry a tuner is a handheld, but I would do some research and find a speedshop that DYNO tune Lsx cars or trucks in your area, for instance I get my car TUNED at straightline who happen to be a sponsor and Mike will Tune my whole PCM or computer cell by cell ie WOT runs, part throttle, adjust timing, AFR, throughout the whole RPM range. Hope that helps.

Thanks guys, that helps make it clearer....
Using an ls6 intake, and a mild .224/230 cam, full headers, and no cats on my chevelle, what hp/torq range would the lq4 be in? 350-375hp maybe???? Thanks..
