Whisper/LPE Lid
The whisper lid is molded thin ; it will try to warp on you front to back (WARNING this lid is a two piece glue-together and will crack at the glue line if torqued too hard). Also it's not the best fitting lid on the market; sometimes you have to carve down/shorten the lids' snorkel to help keep the bellows from forcing the lid forward, as the stock bellows is too long for the whisper lid (and no, an SLP smooth bellows will NOT help).
Make sure that the lid is fitted correctly in the rear (engine side) to the bottom filter housing . Then make sure the front and sides fit OK. Due to the warping, you may not be all the way down and compressing the filter gasket = GAPS on the sides between the lid and the filter gasket (in other words, the air coming in these gaps will completely bypass your filter).
Personally, i do not like these lids. Also, personally, i think anyone who says "a lid is a lid is a lid" has never inspected more than one lid, mounted to a car. And i'm not repeat NOT talking about the silly "which lid makes more horsepower" issue. These lids have way too many problems.
In my humble opinion, if you bought that lid new, send it back. I think you would be happier with a SLP lid.
Lets see how there customer service is, I might be looking into another Lid
