Default Ring gap question

I'm building a forged motor and bought a set of Total Seal nitrous steel top ring rings for it. I plan on spraying around 150-300 but only plan on doing so every once in a while. It will mainly be a H/C car probably around 60% of the time. So my question is the rings are file to fit and it says for nitrous over 150 you need to gap them at .031" This seems like a pretty big gap to me. I realize that 150+ is quite a bit of nitrous and it needs looser clearances but will this hurt the compression when I'm just running H/C and not spraying? The clearance for less than 150 is .023". Which should I gap it at? I don't mind gapping it at the bigger clearance but I won't be spraying all that often.

It has clearances for the top ring, second ring and oil rings. There is also a specification for both less than and more than 150 shot. I guess what I'm asking is which I should use and will it hurt compression to run the larger gaps?

Thanks

Bore is 3.905" Going by your figure that would make the top ring gap .025" which makes me a lot more comfortable. The manufacturer specifies .021 for the second ring if spraying more than 150 and .018 if spraying less... which numbers should I go with?

Go with the specs you were given, that sounds about right.
I had .024 top and .021 bottom for my blown application, usually the N2O is about the same. But be sure to go with what the ring manufacturer specifys.

I called TSP today and got it cleared up. I'm going to gap the top ring at .021 and the second ring at .023

Thanks guys
