Is my Car Missing??? HELP
I just finished an install of my Pacesetter LT's and I'm having a problem. When I'm driving and the car is under a load, I hear a popping noise.. The noise is not an explosion type noise, more of a low 'barrel thumping' noise (if that is good description). The frequency varies (seems to be right with the engine speed,) but it only happens when I'm into the power and the car is under load. I'm sure a majority of this is my fault, so be easy in your replies
!! Anyway, I spent 16 hrs on the install and with patience wearing thin, I pulled a few mistakes. When I was removing the plug wires, I was gentle on the first few, but after cutting my hands to pieces, I yanked the rest out by tugging on the wires. I did reuse the wires since my local auto parts place did not have any in stock. My other mistake(s) happened when I reinstalled the O2 sensors. The pacesetter people sent me the wrong O2 sensor extensions. In a hurry and patience wearing thin again, I spliced the wires using 'crimps' since that freaking wire won't solder. When I looked at my HP Tuner's scanner, the O2 sensors seem hysterical. Could this be causing my popping when under power??? I have ordered new plug wires, new O2 sensors, and the right extensions. With this fix my problem, or do I need to look elsewhere?? Thanks in advance!!!

It jsut wont work. get some extensions bc as of right now the motor has no clue how much fuel to add or take away.
sounds to me, you might have an exhaust leak. what gaskets did you use. By the way, you can splice the o2 wires, as long as your connections are good, you shouldnt have a problem.

I sort of figured that. I had no idea that the O2 sensors are so sensitive to splicing. I tried to solder, but they are made with Stainless wire it seems. Are the extensions made with SS wire??
Now I hear the opposite.
Ive heard and experienced the wires are to sensitive or whatever it may be. But Mine didn't act right after I did it. Then I got extensions and all was good.. This was just my experience so..
