Default ? about this cam / set up.

Alright I have pacesetter headers, magnaflow catback and a cut out.

Im looking at a custom ground cam, the specs are 228/232 on a 113+2 lsa. The lift is 588/584 including hardened comp cam pushrods 7.4 inches, an Ls2 timing chain, and comp cams 918 beehive valvesprings, with retainers.

What can I expect with this? Power-wise and drivability. "Harris speed works" is close to me I heard there name pop up a few times. Do you reccommend them for a good tune after ?

I cant afford the ls6 intake but cant I port the LS1 intake??

Im not putting heads or any other stuff on it Im not building a race car just a little quicker then the other guy DD.

Also what eles would I need to complete that cam install what am I missing.

UPDATE: The pushrods and springs are ' comp cams' , the timing chain is 'gmpp', and the cam is 'MPH motorsports'.

To my knowledge an LS1 can't be ported but an ls6 is so cheap used you should just bite the bullet. $325 shipped for mine.

Drivability is all in the tune but that cam should be easy for a good tuner to do (even though your a 98 like me with the funky PCM).

With no other mods I would guess 40+or- rwhp pickup

Since you are a 98 they have a crappy history with oil pumps and I would go Melling 10296 (high flow). Others like ported LS6 etc... all are better than what's in there.

Underdrive pulley if you can swing it.

Gaskets and fluids

Oh, and knock sensors and harness. Again, common failures on 98's

All I can think of for now but i'm sure somebody else will pick me up.

GOOD LUCK!

Sorry. Saw the 98 at the end of your sig and just assumed. Depends on mileage IMO. Most do the pump any way since your right there. Melling high volume pump 10296 is what i prefer but a lot just go LS6. The melling flows 18% more though.
