HELP: 1998 Camaro Z28 B4C
I am looking to buy the following and need your opinion:
1998 Camaro Z28 B4C 5.7L V8
3.73 gears (4 speed automatic)
New oil, water, and fuel pumps
167,000 miles
$5500
How much longer do you think this engine might last? It use to be a service police vehicle and possibly ran hard. Please give me your input.

Well,
Police vehicles are usually ragged out especially the fun ones to drive. $5500 for that many miles is iffy. Who knows the tranny could take a dump on you in a month or 2. It may not be worth it when its all said and done.

That price isn't bad. You can't expect anyone to sell an LS1 powered vehicle for 3-4K regardless of the mileage.
If the oil has been changed, the motor will be fine. The trans on the other hand might be something to look at. I'd check and see if there's records on the trans being flushed on proper intervals.
The price isn't bad. Realize you're already getting a 3:73 rear end, oil cooler, power steering cooler, and a pretty much born race car for that price. B4C's are light, and come with more "go-fast" options stock not to mention you can get one down to 3,000 lbs fairly easy. I'd say offer $5K and if they take it, ****** it.
