Mistake installing valvesprings.....help!
Mistake installing valvesprings.....help! Ok while i was just finishing up my first cam swap. i was following ls1howto's guide on installing the valve seals onto the valve (patriot golds). it said to use a 10mm or 12mm socket and a hammer to seat the seal to the valve. i grabbed a 10mm and said this fits. but after a did a few i realized that the top metal ring on the seal was bending. i then realized a 12mm seats it w/o breaking the metal.
This is obviously somthing i need to go back and fix but...
My question is:
what effects with it have on my motor the way it is?
and can i start the car up and make sure everything else is ok and go back and change the seals later, or should i not start the car with the seals in this condition?

I agree change it while its already apart, save yourself the hassle. Maybe it isn't damaged enough to cause a problem, but you will sleep better at night knowing you got it right the first time.

i know i agree with all of you. i was really tired but wanted to finish up the valve springs last night. tired and anxious to get it together. not a good way to work. at least i know what i did wrong
