Hows it going guys just thought i would share my wonderful experiance with yall so you can get a good laugh about it to.
Well to start it off im doing an LSX swap in a Fox Body Coupe so I was searching for a realitivly cheap ls1 long block which isnt very easy.
The first I found was a steal at 1100.00 1999 ws6 complete long block 86,000ecu and harness but he was holding it for his friend and I offered him up to 1400.00 and he still wouldnt sell. Great friend is all i could say about that. The secound one my buddy found that was about an hour drive for 1450.00 it was complete but was disassembled because he was going to get ready to build it and had lost intrest. So i went and Checked it out everything was there and checked the bearing while it was apart making sure there was nothing fishy going on so i loaded it up and brought it home OH and forgot to mention it came out of a 2002 35th Anniversary with 51,000 on it. so i wanted to find if there was a way to tell the engine came out of what he said so i checked the casting number on the block and it was 12561168 and if you are a die hard LSX fan then you know that means LS6. But he thought since it had 241 heads that it was an LS1. So the Point of this story is i bought a complete LS6 out of a 2002 35th Anniversary with 51,000 miles for $1450.00.
TELL ME THAT ISN'T A STEAL

Some 01 and 02 F cars came with the LS6 block, its still considered an LS1. If it were an LS6 it would have 243 casting heads an LS6 cam and springs. Another way you can tell when the motor is still in the car is look for a stamp on the front ot the block by the front of the head the LS1 block will have something that resemblles a bulls eye the LS6 wont just fyi. Still a good deal though congrats

All I care about is its an LS6 block Cause the 241's and LS6 intake and trottle body are gone to make room for the ls6 stage 2.5, fast 92 intake and trottle body and the torquer v.3 cam so in my eyes its an Ls6 the casting number speaks for itself

some people just make such a big deal that they have the ls6 block! there is basically no differance, the oil galley is just a little different making it easier to breath! thats it! it does not hav any other parts from the ls6 just probably the intake!

Welll damn... i though you got a good deal.. a block is a block is a block.... who the hell cares what intake, heads and cam it has if your gonna put something different in there anyway.
looks like you got a good deal.. good luck with the swap.

i guess i should just by some 243 so i can say it an ls6 cause every one thinks it just an ls1 because of the heads i guess the ls6 block an intake dosent matter.
dont really get it but if thats what they think

If thats such a great deal i just bought a long block set up with 36k including fuel rails, injectors, all the sensors in the long block, and the ls6 oil pan conversion for $1500. Came out of a 02 35th Camaro. That great deal came from BARNAT on here great man to deal with. But i also have some 243/ls6 cam easy HP boost right there.
