5.3 with ls1headsand cam

I just picked up a 2000 5.3 for a steal and I was thinking of putting my 02 ls1 stock heads and cam on it. One of the 5.3's stock heads has a plug hole with no threads left in it. It's just going in my ol cj-7 for the trails. What do you guys think???

Dude, keep the 5.3 heads and just throw an average cam in it in the 224-230 range. Those 5.3 heads are great head, and I am considering deep-sixing my 241 heads in favor of some PRC 5.3 stage 2.5s along with a 224R cam.

If you put the LS1 heads on the 5.3 engine you will shroud the intake valve with the cylinder wall and they will actually flow worse then the 5.3 heads with the smaller valves.

If anything,port your 5.3 heads,I would not gowith other heads,they will drop compression, just change cam.

The 5.3's flow better and the compression drop isn't worth it. Stick a tr220 in it and roll; or if its just for trails I'd suggest something like a Vinci 210/218. That cam makes hella torque down low.
