Default 238/244 Cam help

238/244 .605/.612 110 Lsa cam wondering if this would be a good choice for a stock Ls1? This is going into my 97 camaro that previously had a 234/242 .575./.595 LT1 cam that now will be sporting a LS1 its not a DD more of a toy that will be driven on nice days to local shows, track & Club gatherings.

I'm Also wondering if i go with a cam this big is there any other upgrades i should consider besides the Must have springs & pushrods? Thanks for the help

what do you man by "stock"? you had better have the basic bolt-ons before you put the cam in.

thats a BIG cam for stock cubes.

your heads are really gonna limit your power. you could go smaller and have a more freindly ride and still make almsot the same power.

other things to replace would be the oil pump and timing chain.

Naw i don't mean bone stock, Motor will have LT headers, ud pulley, catback with cutout, 4.10 gears ect...

The ride really isnt a issue since it's not a daliy driver so as long as it's tuned properly it shouldn't be any worst then the 234/242 cam i previously had.

What kind of Rpm can the stock motor spin up to? and what kind of limits do i have with the stock heads?

What other cams should I look at?

With upgraded rod bolts there are guys spinning 7K-7100. I wouldn't expect it to last a real long time like that though. All of the intakes shy of a single plane start to drop off after 6800rpm I think. The stock heads are going to limit you quite a bit. You should do a search for Cam Only numbers in the dyno section and then compare to the same cam after heads were installed.

I did a search for the cam and it's not mentioned alot. Was looking at smaller more popular cams but not sure if i should look for a cam with more low end/mid range power or a cam with more top end increase. Eventually heads will be added it just a matter of how soon and what brand/size heads to choose from! Theres so many options in the LS world compared to the LT world so it's hard to decide lol

Well 30k miles would be about 6-8 years going by the amount of miles i put on my old setup lol.. It's not going to be a DD its a toy. I appreciate the advice im looking into alot of different cams but this is the one i couldn't find alot of info on so thats why i asked.

Im new to the LS world so the only way to learn is to ask & search and the search feature didn't help me in this case.

You'll be faster with a smaller cam that makes more UNDER THE CURVE. It'll have better manners to boot!!!
