Finally got the old heads off...
I am installing new Dart 205 heads with .040 head gaskets. This is my first time. What a job. I used the instructions from ls1howto.com. I found out I needed a fuel line tool after I already started the tear down. I also found out the Auto Trans dip stick had a bracket on the back of one head down low. That was a real pain to get too. The bracket bend but I did get it off. The other head had the two grounds and they were no problem. Now to clean everythin up tomorrow and start putting it back together after I clay the PTV clearance.

Bill,
Best of luck with the build. I did the same and also flycut back in December. Other than the flycutting, the most tedious part was prepping the deck surface. I highly recommend using the rolled up paper towel method they show in the tutorial to get the coolant out of the bolt holes. It works like a champ.
The head swap has been the best mod to my car so far. You'll like it.

Good to know that the LS1howto.com guide wins again... I am tossing around the idea of doing heads either toward the end of summer or over winter (I'll have a sizeable fund saved up for then, should something BAD arise). Congrats on the successful tear down. Any pics?
