Default when do u need rods

i currently took out my engine to fix the part of the starter that broke off and had planned to do bearings on the mains and rods as well as rod bolts, but when are rods really needed i plan on flycuting maybe some ls6 heads, and the occasional 100 maybe a 150 shot. would i need them with what i have or is it just for peace of mind

take the stock rods to a machine shop and have them resized for the ARP bolts and put them back in with new bearings.
