cam swap done!
cam swap done! after 18 hours or so of working its done. I replaced the oil pump,timing chain, cam, lifters, valve seals (they were almost all junk), and put on a ls6 intake. Everything went pretty smoothly until we dropped a bolt into the oil pan, but after an hour and a half of ****** around we got it out and everything back into place. It pulls pretty fricken hard all the way to the rev limiter.... ill post some sound clips tomorrow, im way to spent to even get off my ***... it was worth the work though!

i didnt take any pics during it cause i got to into it and to lazy to go grab my camera, the cam specs are 232/226 on a 110. We used the dowel method in to the two holes right next to the cam and that worked amazing! for 2$ you couldnt beat it. sound clips tomorrow!

Maybe he wanted to guard against a brief moment of stupidity like I experienced when I pulled my cam.

Ive heard people having issues with that, but oil and working the cam helps. The russian roullette method works but like said, it takes that one time.
my question was, if he was changing lifters wouldnt the heads be off and there be absolutely no reason to even need dowels? unless he swaped in the cam, then pulled the heads.

I accidently left one lifter in the hole. It did not come out with the retainer, and I did not notice.
are those numbers somewhat low? my buddys 01 SS has a 224/224 with abotu a .580 lift on a 114, ps LT's, ory, and a slp catback, lid, and he put down 395/387. with the highewr duration i would think those numbers should be higher, but you also have a stall which might contribute.

In your other post, you said the cam you installed was the TR 230. those specs are 230/224 .575/.563 111 LSA. did you get a custom grind on top of the TR 230?
