Default How much power from this setup??? Anyone runnin this???

I'm in the middle of piecing together parts for my buildup. i cant just save a crap load and buy all the parts and i dont want to put it on credit so im just buying things a piece at a time. So far i have pretty much all the boltons you can get...that i want. and ive got the nitrous thats good for up to 175 hp. I have a Lunati 224/224 112lsa, hardened 1 piece pushrods, comp cam springs, titanium retainers, and im going to get stage 2 heads when i do this. 2.02 intake, 1.60 exhaust stainless valves, pretty much the works. On the bottom end however i was thinking i want to keep the stock crank. Im not sure if i want to get it offset ground, but i want to keep it stock. then i want to get a set of eagle h-beam or equivalent rods (something good to 1000hp), and a custom set of JE or Diamond pistons. I want this thing to be a beast on motor, somewhere around 550RWHP, and then spray 150-175hp and eventually go 2 stage(250-300hp)on that beyotch. so, how much power do you guys think i could get with the above and a compression around 11.0-13.0:1??? Whats then highest compression you could use on pump 93 gas? I dont know where you can get racing fuel around detroit, and i dont want to add chemicals to it all the time to raise the octane. what do you guys think?

you won't make 550rwhp (NA) off of a 346, i can tell you that right now. also if your running that big of a shot you might want to use racing fuel anyways just so that you don't have KR. 11.5:1 cr is the highest i would go if you wanna drive it around on pump gas. your gonna need a 422 or larger to make 550hp and that is gonna cost big bucks. i assume since your using the stock crank that you weren't planning on going big ci...maybe an all bore but even that won't get your 550. either start rethinking or start saving

yeah, i dont really feel like dishin out 1500-2k for a crank. i suppose getting the block resleeved is a maybe. how much are places usually charging to resleeve and machine a stock ls1 block, offset grind, and balance? i think if i got it all done at one place, it would be cheaper. local around detroit would be good too.

Another question. I want to be able to use pump 93, so how much power would you think you could get from a 366cid ls1 with 11.5:1 compression? my friend, who think he knows a lot about cars claims hes runnin 12.5:1 and he doesnt eve use premium. its a carbed 91 rs with a 355 in it...it cant hang with the ls1. anyway, just with my cam, heads, and a stock bottom end i dont see why i couldnt see 410-425rwhp on motor. so if i raise the compression to 11-11.5:1 and stroke it with a offset ground CS to 3.822, im sure it would make more power. what do you guys think? maybe 450-475 rwhp? that would be tight, and then spray 175 on it. 650 rwhp is no joke...

You can make 450 on motor no prob. Also you aren't going to sleeve a motor for 1500-2000 either. The sleeves cost 1200ish alone.

If you want to make 450 get a nice set of heads and a big cam. There is no need to offset grind. Also 11.0:1 is what I am going to be running, and that seems to be good enough for most people. Hell, you aren't going to pick up much more from raising it even more.

No matter what some freak cars put down, the majority of the H/C cars aren't making 450rwhp. It sounds like you need to research into this some more. If it was me, I'd get a 6.0 block and use the stock LS1 crank, and get new rods and pistons. Speed Inc. is close to Detroit I think, call them and give them a budget and I'm sure they'll work with you.

Whats goin on here QuickWS6? You dont think I could put down 450 rwhp NA with a 366cid ls1 with stage 2 heads, all the mods below 224/224 112lsa and 11.5:1 comprssion? i know that im not the most knowledgeable car guy, but i know a lot about my car and others like it. and the 1500-2k was for a nice crank, not to have the block resleeved. I just want 500-600 rwhp on motor and the ability to spray whatever i feel like...

AsianIce,

I would go with more than a 224/224 cam in a 366 if your going to max hp. A ~224 sized cam will make ~90 percent of the power of the bigger cams in a 346...but a lot of guys are going into the 230 range on 346...Maybe 230/230 or something like that or bigger and ported 6.0 heads.
