The guy who builds them is in the hospital due to a heart attack. Since one of the pieces cracked in cylinders 2/4, I can't get it replaced even if I was confident that it would work better in the future. So I guess the situation means I have no choice but to use the new OEM trays and it doesn't matter at this point if the piece on cyl #8 was square. Also, I don't know if the retainers were marked per se when removed, as I wasn't involved in shortblock disassembly, nor did I request that they be marked.

Wear should NOT be an issue on Roller Cams in any type of engine.
Unless of course the cam was made out of some really bad material. Like Clay....lol

If I came off gruff, I didn't intend it to be. I picked up the old cam and lifters today. The worn lobe is the 3rd from the rear. I can't get my cheap digicam to focus well enough at a close distance to show the wear clearly. You can slightly feel it running the finger 90* perpendicular to the lifter path. Nothing real rough, but visually it appears to be in the early stages.
