Default cam feedback

Hey guys. I have a 2001 Z28 (LS1) with cool air intake and cat-back flowmasters. I am doing long tube headers with an off-road Y-pipe, swapping to Patriot Stage II LS6 bored heads (59cc), and getting a comp cam swap. I wanted my mechanic to check the flow numbers and come up with a good, aggressive cam for my set-up. It is a daily driver, so can't go too crazy. But I atleast want over 400-hp to the wheels with this set-up. I think he ordered this cam from comp: HYDRAULIC ROLLER-Great mid-range with superior top end power. Needs programmer. Hyd. Hyd. 1300 to 6300 RPM, XR269HR 269 273 216 220 .525 .532 114° .

I wanted to discuss cam options before he ordered, but to my surprise he already ordered.

What do you guys think of this set-up? I was hoping to get a 112° LSA, but maybe that's just me wanting too much for a daily driver.

Any feedback would be great...

Thanks All...

Thats not really an agressive cam by the standards you see being set these days for agressive cams..lol Tough call, I like to see a TR224 112 lsa instead used here but he selected a cam with safe lift that will give you some extra power in the power band that will be totally useable.

thanks for the input. I neglected to mention I'm in 80K mileage. Should this higher mileage affect my cam choice?

Thats a whole other can of worms, bag of cats.. pick your cliche, my friend...

See that thread where it say's how safe to spin stock bottom end? and it has a vote.

Go read through there. Its a roll of the dice ... Your mech chose a safe cam with safe lift that you will feel the difference and not have to rev it to the moon...

bigger cams require higher rpms ... some hammer it and keep hammering at 130k, mine seemed to develop an cylinder pressure issue at 64k after what is called a small cam now 224 duration. Maybe 2 shots of n2o, (100 shots) a/f was fine didnt lean.. but the ringland seemed to not be happy

others have not had that issue, some have a bearing go instead... and then some dont break them at all.

My cam's a little larger than that one and it drives 100% streetable. Same as stock, just more power everywhere...

will my idle be noticeable with the 114 LSA? I know the 112 LSA has a rougher idle.
