oil pressure, cranking??
how long does it take to get oil pressure cranking the engine over?? I am about ready to fire up my402 and wanted to prime the system. no plugs in it and she whirls like crazy. I cranked for quite a while a few different time and my oil filter is still empty.

It is possible to crank the engine over to prime the oiling system. You should have filled the oil filter before installing it. Fill the filter then watch the oil pressure guage while spinning the engine over. As soon as the pressure starts to come up, replace the fuel pump fuse and fire it up.

I filled my filter and pan to corect level, took less than 10 seconds of cranking for mine to catch prime. I get 55psi cranking with my high volume pump. With the factory gauge it might not show you oil presure if the gauges dont see power during cranking .
