Default Pulling engine out the top...with tranny or w/o?

I see a lot of pics of people pulling the motor out the top and I'm ready to pull but would like to keep the tranny in the car. Enough room to just do the bellhousing bolts and slide the clutch off the splines?

I pulled mine out the top, but the heads were off the car. I don't think you'll have a problem. I used the CarChopInc.com lift plate with hook int he front hole to get max angle. Worked like a charm.

In a Chevelle, it will all come out together. In a 4th gen Fbody, the tranny has to stay

It's a 4th gen. Gotta do rings for a friend. Looks like I got the tranny bound a little... Drivers side is seperated by ~3/4" and the pass side is like 1/8"...
