Default Is this too much cam ??

My car is almost race only but will see some time on the street but not often.

set up is a 346 ci 11.82 scr ,lt's, fast 90/90 full bolt on's,150 shot and afr 205's

the cam is xfi lobes intake and xer ex specs are 242/244 .621/.612

It look's good but i am just worried i may lose all the low end.

just wondering how many guy's are running in the 240 range at .050 and how well they work.

any input would be great

thanks
mike

I had a 240 246 cam in my 347 and never had any problems, I drove this car all over the place until I put an A3 in it. I had almost the same compression as you have. I loved that setup and wish I still had it.

That should be fine if you aren't DD-ing the car.

Our Camaro is running almost that exact Cam, and while she can be a bit grouchy when it is cold outside and on a cold start she calms down well once at operating temperature. It is all in the tune, but even then the cam is the brain of the motor, and cams that big are like giving methamphetamine to a paranoid schizophrenic; you just have to be very calm when dealing with it but man can it scream when it is let loose!

cool i think i will try it.I have ran a tr224,xr281 and a xer 281 and just keep wanting more. so if it is too big i will down size. but i have to try it.

I just pulled out the xer 281 232/234 .595/.598 after 2k mile's it is just don't have the upper rpm pull i am looking for. but i did beat my buddie's 620hp crate moter'd 69 camaro spraying 125 hp with that cam.

I picked those lobe's from comps master lobe list i was thinking 111lsa +3 any help on that would be great

I am just going by what i have read and what i have ran for cam's. i think a 111 lsa with a 108 icl should run sweet with my 11.82 scr and give's me a dcr of 8.66 and then spray her out of the hole at around 3800 should work

Almost "RACE ONLY" you say, this is almost perfect for your set up then.

Good luck. That sounds like one mean cam. Did you have to flycut with your old cam?

Default fly cut

I had to fly cut .080 intake and .060 exh with the xer 281. 232/234 @.050

with a .040 gasket and 59cc afr's. I am sure i will have to cut more for this one.
