smoking problem

Default smoking problem

I was looking at buy a 2001 ws6 the guy said that it smoke a little when you started it up will i when and drive the car and it smoked like hell and had no power at all it only had 80,000 mile on it well someone said that 01-02 had a ring problem but just seeing if it would be a easy fix just put new rings in it and **** like that thanks josh

Once you are doing rings you should plan on doing bearings. Also plan on honing the cylinders to help new ring break in. If I had it apart, I would also check valve seals, valve job, valve springs, etc. If it were me, I would consider it a serious engine problem, and plan on completely rebuilding the engine, or installing a good low mileage used one. IMO, make your offer accordingly. Good luck!

Smoke, especially on startup, can be bad valve seals. Rings would be more likely if it was smoking all the time. This is assuming its blue smoke and not black. if its black smoke, its running rich, which could be killing your power if its bad enough.
