What has to be done for an LS1 to run E-85?
Just wondering what changes are needed for an LS1 to be able to safely run on E85? I heard its like 110 octane so it would be good for nitrous right? I'm rebuilding me engine right now and wouldnt mind having it so that I COULD run it if I wanted to.

Yeah thats what I been reading, now my question is this can these cars be tuned to run on either E85 OR 93? We have E85 around here, but its about half hour away so if I'm up that way maybe I'd run it but probably not all the time. I would just like to have the option. My 383 is about done I have 42lb/hr injectors for it and a walbro 255.

I've been looking into a way to run both but havn't found one without having to buy a conversion kit. It's adout 3-400 bucks but they claim you can turn any vehicle into a flex fuel vehicle. It plugs into the injectors and the factory harness plugs into it.

so its like 110 octane, its o2 sensor safe, a conversion kit is only like 3 or 4 hundred bux, itll probably run better on it, and its 80 cents to a dollar cheaper per gallon? is this what im understanding?.

It may be 80 cents cheaper but it takes 33% more to do the same job gasoline does so 2.40 a gallon of e85 will do the same and last as long as a gallon of gas that costs about 3.20 a gallon. Not a huge savings if you have to go through the hassle of tuning, injector swap, and line swaps.
On the plus side, its high octane ****.

I just got an email from high tech and the conversion they sell only works for Fords. I'm thinking you could just add more fuel from the injector flow table and increase the amount the fuel trims will trim and be pretty close to a flex fuel vehicle. But a true flex fuel vehicle will add timing as well. My o5 sierra has the tables for flex fuel but does't have the sensor.
