Only about 8psig on meth. I'm sure I ran the methanol out once or twice come to think of it. That's probably what did it, but why just one side?

Its pretty risky honing cylinders in the car with crank/cam and bearings in place. Good Luck

The second pic is exactly what my #7 piston looked like but I also spun two rod bearings

Default Update - New (used) slugs are in!

And the compression is 180+ cold all around. It runs good so far. Much stronger than before and no blow-by or smoke. It fired right up on the first crank, no knocks, pings or groans. The starter went bad after a few starts and stops, but it bump starts right away.

I want to put a few hundred miles on it before I get too happy about it. Rebuilding the bottom end while the block is in the car is a first for me. I've done plenty on the stand, but we'll see. I tried to keep everything as clean as possible while honing.

I just re-read my thread after two years. This engine is still running strong after honing and slapping in four used pistons/rods while the engine was still in the car. It burns a little oil when I really get on it, but it still pulls strong two years later.

The car has been N/A since the pistons broke, but I'm planning a new FI build in the near future.
