Call TR, they'll recommend a good head for it.

Id say TEA Stage 1.5 5.3L heads. I picked up 30rwhp on my first 99 ss with an A4 on a Mustang dyno. That was with the stock tune in the car and a TR224 cam and headers and no other changes except just the heads.

totalengineairflow.com

When I get my 6.0L heads, they will be shipped to them for porting and assembly.

I am going with PRC Stage 2.5 5.3L heads. I asked PatG and Predator Z what they thought and they both said the 5.3's would be a great choice.

Whoa whoa whoa...Dan, get the cam in first buddy! Then think about heads! I'm getting the PRC 5.3 2.5's, so if you wanna be like me, get those. If you wanna 1 up me like ya did with your cam choice, then get something different like TEA. Wanna talk nitrous now? Or maybe a blower?

If I am going to have the engine apart, I might as well put heads on it right?

Bringing this back up guys. I have been reading about detonation with these heads if you mill it +.015 ? Is there a safe mill for these heads? If it comes down to tune, I have a great tuner. I have the TR6 plugs in now, I believe the gap is around .45.

Is there a better option?

Looking to get heads in the coming month or two.

Again quick recap, TR230 full bolt on , M6.

Default Tr230

with the PRC or any brand 5.3 I think you need to watch PTV clearance with the TR230- dont mill them. I think PRC is best bang for the buck- my .02c

Look into the dyno section & spend some time looking at recent results. I think you'll find the PRC heads have great results & make proven power everytime. We stand behind every set of heads we sell, so if you need help with your combo we're always here!

I have dyno sheets from several different heads with camshafts near that size, if you'd like some engine dyno before & after sheets give us a call!

Jason can you send me those dyno sheets with cams around the size of the TR230 and are reverse split.? Mine actually came out as 232/227 not sure how but that is what my Cam Doc card said.

As quoted from a PM I rec'd from Patrick G concerning the PRC heads:

The newer version of the PRC heads are excellent. The ones from 2 years ago were not as good. Depends on when they were made. They will work very well with that cam. You can run an .040" gasket without flycutting, but if you mill the heads, P to V clearance will get tight. Patriot Gold springs will be fine, but you'll only want to run the 7.400" pushrods with the thinner gasket. With stock gaskets and unmilled heads, you'll want to run 7.425" pushrods.
And Predator Z:

Yes those would be perfect,
Mill .015 (3 cc) for a 61 cc chamber (no more)
get them with 2.02/1.57 valves
Pushrods 7.400
Stock gasket

No PTV issue
