Default 23 lbs. Oil pressure

I tried a search, didn't find nething. My oil pressure has always been around 40 lbs. Recently When I've been driving in 90 degrees +, at a stoplight in drive, it's showing around 23lbs. of oil pressure. I run Castrol Syntec 5W-30. I sthis normal? I checked my oil, it's full and looks fine. WTF?

Not normal, how many miles on your car, what mods? First thing I would do is change the oil and filter, make sure you dont have any thing on the drain plug or a clogged filter. Mine did the same thing, then spun a bearing 10 miles later just normal easy driving

Definately going to need some more info. If your mileage is getting up there, it's very possible the oil pump is going. Not sure if they begin to wear out or if they just go. Hasn't happened to me yet.

OP. at 90 degree heat your oil pan temps are going to be high and oil pressure is going to drop because thinner oil flows easier, aka less resistance. My Jeep in the winter will stay between 60-80 psi of pressure but once it gets warm outside the oil pressure drops to 25-35 at idle.

Back on topic. If you are really worried about it, I would swap out the factory oil pressure sensor and put in a mechanical gauge in there and see what it really is. I don't know how reliable and accurate the stock gauge on the dash it. Also what is your oil pressure when cruising?

Switch to 10W-40 and see what happens.
