Default Crankshaft

I am currently getting my engine rebuilt. I overlapped a connecting rod bearing and scored the crank. I'm not sure how bad it is yet but the guy that is going to rebuild it told me that if mine is too bad that he has cranks there are there is only 10 thou off them. The max to machine a crank is 60 thou right?? Anyways, I was just wondering how much a new crank would cost. Some people told me that if I plan on keeping my car for a long time that I shouldn't get a crank that has been machined down and use oversize bearings. Any comments!!!
I seen some crankshafts on thunderracing.com for almost $2000 and I called GM and they said $1600, seen some on summitracing.com for $200.
??????????

.010 is acceptalbe on any engine FWIW, but if you are really that apranoid there are plenty of stock cranks floating around.

The only problem is that you have to get the crank align honed to the block, and that will incur more cost.

Either way, you should be putting a bigger crank in it to begin with. 383 crank was 600 My cost. you do the HP math.
