Alright so i've decided that i'm going to do a camp swap using my stock heads. Question is, what supporting mods are absoultely necessary for the cam swap?
98 Z28 46,000 Miles
Pacesetter LTs → True Duals
Stuck betwen two packages:
TSP XS Series Camshaft: 224/224, .581"/.581" 112 LSA
-Comp Cams 918 Spring Kit
-Texas Speed Hardened Chromoly Pushrods
"TR 224-112" - 224/224 .563/.563 112 LSA
- Comp Cams 26918 Valve Springs
- Thunder Racing Pushrods (7.400)
Do i need dual springs & titanium retainers instead? LS6 Oil pump? What do I NEED to install and run the cam safely?

If you go with TSP you should get their cam swap package. It includes all of the components you will need to do a full cam swap. It is well worth it, and you know the components are matched to each other. For me this is a big plus as opposed to mixing and matching parts from various manufacturers and sponsers. I went with the TSP cam swap package for my '01 SS. It included all of the gaskets I needed, new balancer bolt, timing chain, cam, PRC dual valve springs with titanium retainers, and hardened push rods. With the cam swap guide from LS1HOWTO.com I was able to do the swap myself with ease. I would highly recommend TSP. I will be specing a custom cam for my Z06 and will use TSP again. Give 'em a call or email, they are excellent to deal with.

No you dont "need" dual springs, I run 918s, but the extra insurance would be nice.
No you dont "need" Ti retainers unless you really plan to buzz your motor near 7,000rpms alot.
No you dont "need" an oil pump...but it is right there...so its one of those things. Almost crazy not to change it.
I do think no matter what you should at least slap on a new LS2 chain..its only maybe $35..
Technically the only things you need are the cam and pushrods, and gaskets. But thats not the way to do things IMO.
I also think an LS6 intake would be well worth it..

^ i agree. 100%
I would say they are a must. Technically you dont have to, but is it worth the 1-2 days worth or work to get back in there for $50 bucks in parts?
1. oil pump
2. timing chain
Im not good with reading agressiveness in cams... just havent sat down and researched it... so i dont know about these cams. But i would still do the springs, again $100-$150 insurance. And if your doing the labor... what the hell.
And the ls6 will open her up at a reasonable price.
But thats just me, i would HIGHLY reccommend 1 & 2... the rest is optional.

For either of those two cams you dont need double springs. TO much spring isnt good either. You also dont need titanium retainers, you dont spin those cams high enough.
Oil pump is added insurance, you have 45,000 miles I think your pump is fine but most swap them anway due to the low cost of it and its insurance.
I sell a cam swap package as well, $595 delivered for any comp cam, com magnum pushrods and PAC 1218 springs, PAC was the original mfg of the comp 918 until come went elsewhere and have been having trouble since then. I also offer a cam swap tool pakage. If yu buy my cam package the tool rental is half price. PM me if anyone is interested.
