Default New to LS1 and have a basic question

Hello all, I actually haven't bought the motor yet but I plan picking up a '00-'02 LS1 out of an Fbody or a Vette LS1 (99-02?)

I'm used to the older chevy engines but decided to run the LS1 in my '56 Belair project I am working on. Since the car WON'T be a daily driver, I want as nasty a cam that I can run without going into the pockets too deep.

Anyway, I am curious about something. I am in LOVE with the cam in this Nova on Youtube:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sQWO8rb5M3M

I think I read on here that it's a custom grind cam for a company out of Texas. I could be wrong though.

My proposed game plan. Please critique:

'00-'02 Fbody LS1
FAST 90mm Intake, fuel rails and 90mm TB (Do I need the 92mm?)
The cam in that video if possible
Long tube headers
4L65E (that will need some work as well I am assuming)

Do I need to step up to bigger injectors?

And most importantly, Can I even use that cam and the rest of the bolt-ons with the stock LS1 heads? I would think NOT, and I know I would need different springs and pushrods.

Any input on something like this?

Thanks guys,

Dan

EDIT: It looks like that cam is Texas Speed's Magic Stick which is a COMP cut and I HIGHLY doubt I can run that with aftermarket springs and pushrods on a stock head.

Fast only makes the 92mm now so if you want to go 90 you will have to look for a used one or try and find someone who still has the 90s in stock. As for the cam I would contact TSP(texsas speed and performance) and choose one of there cams or have one custom for your set up.

Good luck

Don't quote me on this but I think I seen that video somewhere else and it was when I did a Trex search. It might be a Trex cam from Thunder Racing but I am not totally for sure.

Try a search on Trex, there are lots of reviews and plenty of guys here that run them that could chime in on a Trex.

I called Texas Speed and asked them about it. He said something along the lines of me being ok running that cam as long as I kept the stock rockers? I still think it might be a little too much cam though.
