when i spoke with TR about this cam for my setup i was told to install it straight up because any advance or retard is cut into the cam. maybe your mechaninc is a tooth or so off on the TC? or did you use a aftermarket TC?

I used an ls2 chain. I was talking to my buddy and his brother-in-law races a/fia class and knows his **** about ls1's. I gave him my cam card and giving my tuner a copy of one sunday so they are suppose to look at all the events and stuff to figure out if its retarded or not. My buddy said that he also thinks there is something wrong with the valvetrain geometry. The head came with springs only rated to .580 lift and i didnt want to cut it that close so i had them put the comp 918 springs on there with titanium retainers and i think they might have messed that up and the valve isnt opening all the way. Anyhow sunday when i go to see the tuner he is goin to fix the idle cuz my iac was out so he couldnt set it, then my buddy, his brother-in-law, and me are going to fix whatever the mechanic didnt do right. Whether its the cam, heads or both.... who knows?

Well I am getting my car re-dynoed sometime at the beginning of this week because after fixing problems the car ran a 11.9 at 114 on a bad tune. I had a bunch of little problems that added all up to the problem. First was that my spark plugs were all black and 7 and 8 were barely firing and I had around 850,000 misfires. I replaced them before we drove up to the dyno but obviously they were crapping out on the way there. Secondly I had an exhaust leak which I took down to the shop for them to put it up on the rack to fix it and while it was down there I had them check why my ses started blinking again and thats when i found the plug problem. Thirdly, I was in tech up at the track last night and was looking under my hood and I noticed the damn AIR tube in the airlid was in there but the rubber ring that seals it wasnt so I fixed that. So cant wait to get it dynoed again cuz its running rich and who knows how bad all the stuff messed up the tune. I will probaly also have to let them set the shiftpoints a lil bit higher because obviously its goin to trap higher and last night it was shifting right before the finish line. I think they are set at around 6500-6600.

That cam holds the power up top real well. My 2001 Z/28 only lost 6 rwhp from peak power at 6450 rpms, to 6800 rpms. I was running TEA stage 2 5.3's. That's a good cam. You have tuning issues that need to be resolved before you make a judgement. Good luck.

I was never judging the cams performance and more of whether the shop installed everything right. I just was freaking out because it made no power on the dyno and the shop that put it and the heads on doesnt do performance stuff so I thought something was wrong with that. I mostly just didnt want them over revving it on the dyno and giving it more of a chance to break something when obviously something was wrong. I just thought the problem was more serious because it pains me to say this but it only put down like 330hp when it put down 335 with just bolt ons lol. I know my car is a stalled a4 with gears and it was on a mustang dyno but i was like wtf??? I was seriously excited last night on a bad tune to run in the 11's and to get the front wheels of the ground an inch or two. Now i just cant wait to get the tune fixed because I can tell it needs some leaning out.

Yeah i dont mind dyno numbers its just these ones were so f!cked up. The car feels alot better and im getting it dynoed again tuesday. Yeah my tuner is really good. So monday im going to check the plugs again to see how they look and my o2's are pulling some low voltage, they will sometimes jump up in the 300's then other times be down below 100 so im goin to jack the car up and take them out and clean them. The dyno im getting it done at though will still be extremely stingy because its got to be one of the lowest mustang dynos i have ever seen. I went out to my tuners house for him to fix my idle this morning and he was telling me what some of the cars dynoed there then when down to the track and layed down killer times so im not too worried.

My exhaust system is dynatech supermaxx with the cats gutted and slp loudmouth. I got it dynoed last night and it put down awesome numbers for the dyno it was on. We didnt do any full pulls because we were just fixing the air/fuel curve but at 6,000 rpms which is far as we took it it made 360 which doesnt sound that great but this dyno reads 10% lower than all other dynos which is frustrating. I want the numbers but track times make me happier. Even the owner of the shop and the tuner told me that it reads low and they dont know why. When i got it tuned with all the problems that i had it ran a 11.9 at 114 only putting down 327 horsepower so i know my converter and gears really mess up the dyno. My tuner also told me his buddies 390 cubic inch mustang with a paxton blower on it should of put down around 700+ horsepower and it only dynoed 590 and at the track he was running 9.80's launching off idle and still spinning and shutting it down at the 1000 ft mark. So ill just have to see what it runs at the track.
