Default Good cams for stock intake manifold??

im aware that most cams require aftermarket intake manifolds. Are there any that give over 50rwhp with a stock ls1 intake manifold? I got my car with an ls6 cam and its alright. any opinions?

My friend put in an MS4 with the stock ls1 and it choked real bad. Had a nice initial pull at first and then up top the car just died...

You should have bolt ons done before you start thinking about a cam. If not, the car needs to be tuned after cam install, then when you decide to put an intake on it, it'll need to be tuned again.

An LPE GT-11 is a pretty good cam for stock manifolds. There's also the LS7 cam and the Thunder Racing CheaTR (did 394 rwhp with stock manifolds, cam only). Might even get good results out of an LPE GT1-1. I wouldn't expect 50 rwhp out of any of these, though.

Out of these 4...

LS7: baby cam, 210/230, 580ish lift
CheaTR: mild cam, 215/230 (IIRC), 600ish lift
GT-11: bigger, 215/231, .641/.644, 118 LSA (in my car, did great on stock manifolds, smooth idle, nice sleeper)
GT1-1: biggest I'd go on stock manifolds, 229/242, .631 lift, 114 LSA (thinking about upgrading to this myself)

Edit: Just realized you were talking about stock intake... thought you were talking about exhaust. I ran the GT-11 on my stock LS1 intake and exhaust manifolds, and it performed great, but I never planned on keeping the LS1 intake. You really need to upgrade to an LS6 or FAST if you're gonna put a cam in. I only had it that way because I was short on cash and wanted to get the cam in while the motor was out.
