Default where to grab engine to lift it?

i already searched and i know this is gonna sound dumb but ive never done this before so here it goes. my oil pan gasket got chewed up by a 10 mil socket that god only know how it got behind my flywheel but anyways im trying to replace the gasket and i unbolted the pan hoping i could just slide the old gasket out and then slide the new one in but its rivited in so now im gonna drop the k member to get it out but how do i support the engine? i have a cherry picker but where do you hook it up at? hook it up to the headers maybe??? i assume all i have to do is unhook the steering and the 2 18mil bolts in the motor mounts and then take out the other 6 bolts while the motor is supported. if im missing something any help would be great.

is it a bad idea to just say screw it and drill the rivits out without droping the pan? as long as when im done getting the gasket off of there i run some oil through to make sure there are no shavings in the pan then just put the new one in and button it back up? seems like alot of work to drop the k member just to take the pan off to drill the rivits but if i have to i will.

i know space is limited, but there just aluminum rivets. Can't you take a big chizel and knock the rivets out, then theres alot less chance of a bunch of shavings getting into the pan.

will the rotating assembly be in the way if i try to do it this way or will i have enought space? i think thats whats hanging the oil pan up right now any why i was needing to drop the k member. this clutch swap is becoming a real pita.

y drop the kmember? just pull the motor out. and you would hook a chain up to the back passanger head and from driver side head

im really not into pulling the motor out to swap a gasket. i dont know just seems like alot of work for 2 rivits. well i guess im gonna go out and figure out something to do with it. gotta say though who the hell though that would be a good idea riviting the frigging gasket in place. oh well

I have a QTP lift plate that works well. If you undo the motor mounts you should be able to get the engine high enough to get the pan out if you have an aftermarket k member.
