Finishing up: Engine Intake
Now I'm thinking about finishing my car up so I get as much as I can out of my engine and the mods I've already put into it. My LS1 is stock displacement, and I'm thinking about getting the following:
Fast LSX Intake 90mm
Edelbrock or Nick Williams 90mm TB
SLP 85mm MAF
90mm intake lid
I already have a new 90mm rubber joint for connecting the lid to the TB.
With the mods my car has now, it dynoed around 370 RWHP and 360 RWTQ. I'm hoping that those intake replacements will get me right around 400.
I heard that the larger than stock MAFs cause tuning issues. Is there any MAF that is larger than stock that would provide a stable basis for tuning? Any other advice or suggestions for me?
With heads and a F13 cam, you should be in the 400's rwhp.
If you are going to stay in the lower 400's, keep the LS6 intake manifold, if you want more, you will need the FAST 90/90.
I would like to get the most I can out of the engine without stroking it or doing anything drastic...so would an intake and TB net me the extra 30 RWHP or so without having to remove cats?

If the gain from running cats is so small, i.e. 5 RWHP, then it hardly seems logical to remove them completely and have a car that smells like a 70s beater. I think the cats' effect on performance scales up more depending on how much you mod your engine...in my case, I'd say I'm giving up at least 15 RWHP to the cats.
I'd love anything over 450...I have TSP 5.3L ported heads. I don't get why we need to get a 90mm TB and Intake manifold if the maf remains at its stock diameter...wouldn't you make more than 462 if you had a bigger maf?

And yes the loss of hp with high-flow cats is very minimal and I too don't see the reason why people don't keep their cars equipped with them...they reduce rasp and exhaust smell. I think people like to ditch them to get a few more decibels out of their car.
Think what-ever you want, but your still wrong.
So what can I pick up that extra 30 RWHP I'm missing. Is there something I am overlooking in my setup? My engine tune is off? If the cats are only sapping me for 5 RWHP I should have around 395 RWHP with my current setup.

Also, can you list all your mods - that should help us, help u.
