Loud whine from engine and knock at idle...HELP!!!! well i have a 98Arctic white Z28 M6 w/60K miles...i recently had a set of MAC mid length headers w/ORY pipe installed...since then, ive noticed a loud sound coming from the driver's side of the motor (sounds like a tire trying to grip the road or something but coming from the motor) mostly does it when increasing RPM's while driving and at high rpm's very noticeable...also, when revving at a stop small puffs of white smoke coming from the tailpipes after the idle comes down....very slight but still there...last night i noticed when i got on it hard after coming to a stop the bottom of the motor was knocking hard...sounded like the rods or somethin...any suggestions guys??? hope i dont need a rebuild

Re: Loud whine from engine and knock at idle...HELP!!!! Pull the motor and rebuild it cause sounds like your bearings are wiped out. Same thing happened to me. Hows your oil pressure on the car??

Re: Loud whine from engine and knock at idle...HELP!!!! Sounds like a spun bearing, done it twice and it sounds like a hammer under there beating the block, stop driving if you don't want to throw a rod out of you block

Re: Loud whine from engine and knock at idle...HELP!!!! the oil pressure is fine...idle and driving its great....and the exhaust sound could be resonance from the headers being so opened up....is piston slap a common thing here w/the bottom end??? this morning i fired it up and drove it and it seems ok but i can almost guarantee this thing will need new bearings before long...any estimates on the cost to pull motor and do this???
