Question Cam Lsa Question

Probably going with a 224 cam but was wandering what effect the lsa had on anything..is it just the idle lope?? i like the 111 lsa the most...but is that all the lsa determines?????

THANKS

i know that its harder to pass emmisoins testing with a more narrow lsa, but since your sig says you dont have them, i guess that doesnt matter.

Lower LSA's will have a higher peek HP, and may be harder to tune.

false, quite the opposite actually. narrowing the LSA will offer more overlap which = more mid-range tq and high rpm power, and ultimately a peakier power curve...in a nutshell.

Go through TA Pics in my sig. There's a 224/224 112 lsa graph buried in there somewhere.

FALSE...... wide LSA will produce greater low end torque and a narrow (lower) separation angle will produce better top end power(HP). Your statement even said a "high rpm power" and " peakier power curve".... That was my statement a HIGHER PEAK HORSEPOWER . Not sure why you would call my statement FALSE.

your both wrong a tr 224 on a 114 will peak higher than a tr 224 on a 112...the 112 will have a slightly rougher idle and make power sooner....the 114 will start making power a lil later but hold it higher in the rpms.....

lsa is a by product in figuring overlap....this **** is covered all in the stickies doesnt anyone read them......................

And if you have advance ground in or install the cam advanced a few degrees it will lower the power band as well, just be careful of piston to valve clearance on high duration/high lift cams. With a 224 I would think you would be safe in that department though

You have to look at the valve events not only duration or lift numbers alone. Look at IVC that's the time the intake valve will start closing with piston going up top. It's the closest point of contact.

high rpm power and peakier power curve are totally different from what you said. also, mid-range and low-range torque are also, totally different. a 224 on a 114 lsa will PEAK at a higher rpm than a 224 on a 108 lsa, fact. however, the 108 lsa cam will have a HIGHER hp peak number, as in 400whp @ xxxx rpm. BUT, the curve itself will be peakier, meaning the 108 lsa cam will make less average hp from 0-5000 rpm for example, but above 5000 rpm it will surpass the 114 lsa. the 114 lsa cam will offer a higher AVERAGE number of both HP and TQ, but LOWER hp and tq PEAK numbers. narrowing the lsa increases cylinder pressure which INCREASES TORQUE. which means on your dyno graph, the 108 lsa cam will PEAK SOONER, make MORE HP and TQ. however, the AVERAGE HP/TQ will be lower than that of a 114 lsa. god damn man, go work on some cars. read the cam sticky guide or something. your ignorance on the subject can be very misleading.
