Default Need 370ci build advice

After some thought I've decided to not pour any money into the LT1 in my car right now and have pretty much decided to swap in an LSX series motor and a built t56. My budget is around 10k and is a little flexible. I want this motor to be bombproof and make good low end power because this is my daily driver and it absolutely has to pass emissions. I live in MD and since the car is a 95' it will have to pass a sniffer test regardless of what motor is in it.

I like the idea of the forged 370 short block from tsp because the few extra cubes will help out down low and it will be durable. I don't really care about the weight because I already have an iron block. I've got a good idea of the bolt ons I want but I am completely ignorant when it comes to LSX cams and heads. A big lopey sound isn't really my main concern, it just needs to pass emissions. Gas mileage isn't a huge concern, I'd prefer it not be awful...

Power goals are around 450rwhp. Thanks for the help.

Give me a call, and I can help you out. I have engines in stock ready to ship. As well as a summer special going on the ones in stock.

not to hijack, but i've seen most of your motors (which look great btw) are setup for N/A..... do you have boost applications?

Thanks

any other ideas? I've read some about the tr224 but not sure how much power I can make. I'd like some more opinions before I talk to someone who can take my money, no offense Marcus...

I'm going the 370 route myself with 228/232 cam, ported 243's, and full bolt on's. The hardest part was fabbing up an x pipe that would work with the UMI chassis mount torque arm. I'll post up some numbers once I get it all installed.

Well the 370 would do what you want, put some nice heads on it a tr224 114 lsa cam and your golden. You'll be where you want to be power wise and have snorty down low power and great mid range with a decent top end. Honestly the TR224 is the best all around street strip cam, on the planet for a 346, in a 370 or 408 you can go a little bigger but the emissions is the issue. Some of the California boys can give you a better idea they have stringent law's down there, I would post up in there and ask about cam and emissions anc what they can get away with.

For a couple hundred more your looking at a 408 just by upgrading to a 4" stroke crank. Scat makes a very nice peice now and it priced to compete with the Eagle but seem to be more of the Callies quality. ( That's direct from the builder)

You budget is fine, you should be able put a long block in there under 10k no sweat.
