Default ls1 piston question

Hey guys I bought a 5.3 ls1 and I have gone into the motor more than I expected. I purchased a z06 cam, intake, I am porting the heads and purchased new valve springs and many more bolt ons. I recently discovered the crank in my motor is the same part numb the 5.7 has. Can I make a 5.7 by just buying some 5.7 pistons and having the block bored out? Is there anything else I would need to do ( fuel injector upgrade, oil pump, ect...)

Thanks

Yes you can have the block bored to fit ls1 pistons.....I just recently did this and went with forged mahle pistons(standard ls1 bore).

So in other words since I can pick up a set of pistons relatively cheap ( stock low milage) add new rings, is this something you guys would do?? HP gains?

Yea you can do that.....your prolly gonna have to have it balanced since your mixing diff pistons and rods with diff crank. There are a few people that have done that to stick on a budget. Im not sure on the hp gains tho......

Yes! Thats actually the way alot of people make IRON ls1's! instead of the aluminum ones, which is a good idea if your going to boost the motor!

So If I do this I am now questioning my heads. Is it true that the 5.3 heads are better than 5.7 stockers? Or am I misreading some stuff. If I bore it what recommendations you guys got on a budget. Remember I am running the Z06 cam
