ls1 piston question
ls1 piston question Hey guys I bought a 5.3 ls1 and I have gone into the motor more than I expected. I purchased a z06 cam, intake, I am porting the heads and purchased new valve springs and many more bolt ons. I recently discovered the crank in my motor is the same part numb the 5.7 has. Can I make a 5.7 by just buying some 5.7 pistons and having the block bored out? Is there anything else I would need to do ( fuel injector upgrade, oil pump, ect...)

Yea you can do that.....your prolly gonna have to have it balanced since your mixing diff pistons and rods with diff crank. There are a few people that have done that to stick on a budget. Im not sure on the hp gains tho......
So If I do this I am now questioning my heads. Is it true that the 5.3 heads are better than 5.7 stockers? Or am I misreading some stuff. If I bore it what recommendations you guys got on a budget. Remember I am running the Z06 cam
