Default when to use race fuel?

I've got a buddy with a '00 Vette who is installing a set of used AFR 205's milled to 59cc and probably .040 Cometics. He doesn't know all his cam specs but he thinks his lift is around .580. He has a forged 347.

He seems to be insistent on using race fuel (unleaded presumably) and wants to buy a 55g drum up front. The only thing he uses the car for is autox and perhaps future road racing. I don't see why he would need race gas, though... am I missing something?

It will depend on his DCR after his cam selection.. 93 should be workable until he gets into the 9.0+ :1 DCR. Others here know more I'm sure.
