Last evening with the 83' This motor has stood the test of time and exceeded every goal I initially had for it. For you guys that dont quite have the scratch for a larger stroker or simply dont want the hassle of converting to an LS2 based shortblock, the 383 stroker (stock 3.900 bore with a 4" arm) should certainly be a prime consideration for you. Half the reason I built this engine three years ago was to dispel some of the myths that they couldn't make power. I knew with the right heads/cam/induction and attention to detail in the build that would easily be proven to be more "Internet folklore".

That said I am very much looking forward to the larger 447 CID build I have in the pipeline (featuring a new larger addition to the AFR cathedral Gen III heads), but unfortunately it will be many months before that project is finished. To the guys who are certain to ask about the new 235/240 ish head we are going to release, my only comment is they will be worth the wait (for more reasons than just flow numbers) and are still months away (my R&D efforts at AFR have been focused in other directions although I am close to finishing the new Gen III prototype).
Here is a quick improptu video a coworker took of my car the last Fri night it roamed the streets a week or two back. Honestly the vid quality isnt that great but the soundclip is worth the minute of your life it takes to load it....it literally was the last few blasts to redline this engine had the pleasure to hit as it seemed it was always the happiest screaming big RPM's at WOT. I took her apart the very next day.
BTW, this run would have been a little longer than the actual quartermile for me (where this car normally traps around 130 MPH)....in this vid I take fouth gear till the shiftlight comes on which is just shy of 145 MPH.
