Default Ms4

Hey anybody got any experience with the magic stick 4? Buddy of mine just ordered one. I looked at the specs, it looks weird. WAY more intake then exhaust. Texas speed said its awesome and way better then the MS3. I kinda thought it would maybe choke out at the top end but they said it does'nt.

I'm just trying to figure out what its gonna do. All info will be helpful. thanks.

MS4 will basically have no ***** below 4,000 rpms and all of a sudden wick up and pull like a mad man.

It's a top end cam, pure and simple.

What he said, i have the MS3, at this point i have 3.42's with a 6-speed, and its "ok" 3 grand and under, after 3000 the backend gets all crazy all the way up to redline, the MS4 would have even worse bottom end on a 346cid ls1..for me, the MS3 is the biggest i would go with a stock cube ls1

You should call TSP and not listen to these people who don't know how the cam was designed. The MS4 has more low end power then the MS3 because of the LSK lobes applied to the intake side. It is a new aggressive lobe from comp that is supposed to bring in more power earlier. I have an MS3 with 3.42's and IMO its a blast to drive it on the street, mixed with my heads I have all the power I need for the street.

I'm installing a MS3 right now and was thinking about swapping to a MS4. But kinda scared to. The intake rate pushes the limits of the PRC springs... Don't want to take any chances after doing all this work myself. Both cams make alot of power but I think the MS4 is kind of a max effort cam if your looking to get into the 10's at the track.

i know 2 people running the MS4. one is in a daily driven 420hp, and the other is in an 850hp monster. the DD loves it and says its streetable by his tastes & both say the cam looooves the spray. both run a 150 shot and it helps em run circles around lots of people. i think its a good cam, esp at the track, you'll get into the power quick and once you do, its a surge like no other.

I also have the MS4 in my car, it really starts to shine around 3500rpm with stock gearing and 6 speed, anything below 1500 rpm it doesn't like, it starts lurching, has a lot to do with my gearing I am sure. I had a 100 shot on it for a while and I loved it. I am thinking about getting nitrous again, it was a lot of fun. I am running 393 rwhp and 377 ft lbs, it needs a new tune though, it boggs a bit sometimes off of an idle and feels like it is loading up on me. It sounds sweet as hell at idle too!!

Just as a reference my cam makes 396, basically a hair under 400 with a heavy driveline and I will put my graph up against any MS3/4 cam only and It should be pretty bad under the curve. Had it been a stocker driveline, id be around 410-412 rwhp. Id give up the peak 8hp but stomp everywhere else.

The MS3/4 cam is a big cam for a 346 w/ the given compression. Put it lets say a 6.0L motor and give it at least 11 to 11.25 to 1 comp and it should be a much different curve.

hate to tell you boys and girls but you have to sak yourself one thing, under the curve power or peak power? i bought a 99 LS1 short block with MS4-110LSA, Forged Rotating Assembly, ARP RodBolts, LS6 Ported OilPump, Roller Master Double Roller Timing Chain, Comp R Lifters, The new patriot LS6 STG 2.5's milled, 12:1 on 93 shell gas and i have no problems pulling 7200 with any 11 second cars. if i get beat i'll on cork the bottle on the ford boys or a fellow GM owner. Cam only shold make 428-386 with a good tuner. depending on the heads 5.3 or LS6 texas-speed is on top of there game. with that being said speed costs how do you wana go? goodluck

any H/C LS1 runs good unless you got hillbilly backyard bob tuning your ****, you should for sure see a solid 450 with the ms4 and a good set of 5.3 or Ls6 heads anything over stage 1 will need a valve release or flycutt piston in order to have that clearance issue takin care of. Great camshaft for sure, but these boys are right though don't plan on making power under 3000! for 3000 to 7200 it makes power strong and if you wana spary it run a 110LSA call TSP they will cover any tech questions or issues youl'll have
