whining noise solved - important info!
i'm pretty puzzled at this point, but i had no metal in the oil, so i was pretty stoked about that. i finally bought a new 03 LS6 pump from work, (a gimmick for those of you that dont know, it's the same PN as the rest of out oil pumps.) and after i ported it, installed it and went back to firing it up. no more noise. whohoo!! back in business until i burned a hole in the PS hardline w/ the alternator. apparently grounding 14 volts on thin steel lines, isint a great idea.. grr.. anyway i learned my lesson. and i'll be back in business tomorrow when the line comes in.

just a word to the wise, ALWAYS WATCH YOUR OIL PRESSURE!!! and always dis-connect your battery. (thank God!) i lucked out, because if i were to be driving when this happened, there would have been no way to know why i was eating up motors. and might have re-instaled the same pump again... the old one looks absolutely fine, but it's out of spec, because it performed poorly.i hope this contributes to your technical knowledge guys,

The new ones have the same p/n, but they are built with tighter specs, which reduce the failures that were seen on early years.
