Default help asap!! 228R & pushrods

Ok guys, so the car is running but it's making a lot of tapping noises due to the fact my pushrods are way to short.

Im running a 228R and it's got the 7.350 PR's that came with the motor from speed inc in it. Its VERY noisy and it has got to be quieted down and the car is 800 miles from me so I can't check the length so I need some help.

I know TSP reccomends a 7.4 length but the 228R has a slightly smaller base circle so if I use a 7.425 vs the 7.4 will I **** up my clearance or cause the rocker tip to roll off?

I've gotta order these and have them installed before the 18th (date I go get the car) so time is a factor

Thanks

no milled heads, but I see TSP reccomends the 7.4 but with a smaller base circle that kinda makes me think: huh? smaller circle, but still 7.4 length??

7.4 is stock length. even thoe tsp says you can used them with there cams you can. its just that because the basecircle is smaller some like to to to a longer pushrod but some use 7.4

will the slightly longer cause the roller tip to roll off once the lifter is all the way up though? thats my main concern

I have a 228R with 59cc heads and run stock length 7.4's. No issues whatsoever.

yea im staying here for good. If I stayed with my parents any longer or in fayettenam any longer I was gonna kill them or myself. whichever would have came first.

But yea the car has been nothing but a pain in the damn *** since day 1 it had best be worth it all. I'll be in town the 18th to pick up the car, you gonna be available for maybe a quick cruise?

stock heads and gaskets here with the 228R and ive got some noise but no problems so far with the 7.4's i'll change em eventually when i get some heads. I think my stock cam measured 1.550 and my 228R measured 1.450 so thats calling for a 7.45 pushrod not the 7.4 they recommend!!!!! so instead of having .080 lifter preload i only have .030 and i think that in high rpm that wouldnt allow the valve to open fully, but i dont know

true but what about the valvetrain geometry. thats what I understood to be the reasoning that the stock is the recommended one since it has a little bit more noise but keeps everything in alignment better?

Holy christ I'm glad to hear that thing is at least running. I run 7.45 (cam guy recommended) with my LSK/XER stock headed setup, with no noise.

I'm running a 226/226-585/585 cam , so thats real close to your cam specs and when I measured my pushrod length the 7.4's seemed to be a little short so I bought 7.425 pushrods . My engine is VERY quiet as in no ticking like a sewing machine ! Good luck .
